How Zatami Works
Zatami is a peer-to-peer vehicle marketplace where sellers list their vehicles and buyers compete through timed bidding events.
For Buyers
1. Browse and find
Browse approved vehicle listings across South Africa. Filter by make, model, price, province, and more. Each listing includes photos and two required videos so you can assess the vehicle's condition.
2. Pay a R500 refundable deposit
To bid on a vehicle, pay a R500 refundable deposit for that specific bidding event. This confirms you're a serious buyer. If you don't win, your deposit is refunded in full.
3. Place your bids
During the timed bidding event, place bids above the current highest bid by at least the minimum increment. All bids are validated server-side for fairness. The highest bid when the event closes wins.
4. Complete the transaction
If you win, you and the seller receive each other's contact details to arrange payment and collection. All access is logged for your protection.
For Sellers
1. Create your listing
Enter your vehicle's details — make, model, year, mileage, transmission, fuel type, condition, and more. Upload photos and two required videos: a cold-start walkaround and an instrument-cluster startup.
2. Admin review
Our team reviews every listing before it goes live. If anything needs fixing, we'll tell you why and you can resubmit. Nothing is publicly visible until approved.
3. Set your bidding event
Once approved, your vehicle gets a timed bidding event with a starting bid and minimum increment. Buyers compete and the highest bid wins.
4. Complete the sale
When the event closes, the winner's contact details are shared with you. Arrange payment and handover directly with the buyer.
About the R500 deposit
- The R500 deposit is per bidding event, not per account.
- A verified deposit for one event does not unlock bidding on another.
- If you don't win, your deposit is refunded in full.
- Deposits are paid via EFT with a receipt uploaded to your account for admin verification.
